As May progresses, each stem is topped by buds that elongate into a 3 to 4" stems that rise above the foliage and open to reveal masses of pure blue flowers by early June. Since there are so many stems the amount of closely packed flower spike makes for an incredible show of bloom that continues well into the summer.
